With news like this one could almost get some hope together that a new party might spring up out of GOP corruption and Dem impotence.

? Former Sen. Lincoln Chafee said he has left the Republican Party because the national GOP has drifted too far from him on critical issues, including the war in Iraq, the economy and the environment.

“It’s not my party anymore,” Chafee, who represented Rhode Island from 1999 until 2007, told The Providence Journal in an article published Saturday.

Too bad he’s only a former senator, but there are some grumblings about current senator Chuck Hagel
running for president on an independent ticket which will hopfully be spurred on by the govinators recent comments.? While having a strong third party would not fix the political scene overnight, it might help to differentiate the closeted libertarians from the bible thumpers that all seem to hate and love the cock a little too much.? If the party can’t be taken back then make a new one and leave the trash where it belongs.
